Re-elect Rockstar Librarian Kate

Bio

Born a girl who loved to read, mostly nonfiction, I was destined to be a librarian. I was only 22 and entering grad school with peers in their 30s and 40s. I loved the over-arching library philosophies of justice and equality for all. But I kept wondering if I fit in. I loved to sing karaoke and dance til dawn. Plus, Myers Briggs kept telling me that I was 100% extroverted. Unlike some of my peers, I didn't find pure joy in cozying up with a book at 9pm on a Friday night.

Then it happened. Parker Posey in Party Girl. I felt like I was looking in a mirror! She was fun, funny, outgoing and loved being damn smart, knowing that smart was the ultimate sexy. Of course, I always knew that I didn't fit the stereotype of a librarian and I love it. And I know I am not alone! I have met some of the most intelligent, kind and socially aware human beings in my fellow librarians. I found other soulmates at ALA, state conferences and of course, Burning Man. What would we do without Playa Info? Knowledge is power!
